Mastery & Traditional Styles
“Every Mithila painting, Paag and dupatta from Discover Mithila is handmade, not printed.”
Her Story & Journey
Mausam Mishra is a traditional Mithila artist hailing from Ranti in Madhubani district, Bihar. Practicing generational folk art rooted in Mithilanchal traditions, her work embodies deep cultural devotion, rhythmic geometry, and fine freehand line discipline.
Her masterworks celebrate iconic Madhubani symbology: the sacred Peacock (Mayur) with dense Kachni monochrome feather hatching, cosmic triple-Matsya (sacred fish) mandalas radiating life energy, and the Kalpavriksha (Tree of Life) nurturing birds and flora in cosmic harmony.
Using fine nibs and mineral inks, Mausam Mishra draws entirely freehand without preliminary drafts, continuing the unbroken artistic legacy of rural women creators across Madhubani.
